In 1998 Allen and Michal purchased the Lion's Paw. The house had already been fully restored in 1988 to its current charm, so both Michal and Allen spent their energy caring for one of the most beautiful gardens on the peninsula.

Before owning the Lion's Paw, Michal worked as a Surgical Technologist helping surgeons with patients. Allen was an X-ray Tech. They met at Group Health Central in Seattle in 1992. On the first day at work, Michael met Allen in the elevator. Ten weeks later they married on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.  In Michal's words: " it has been paradise ever since".  

So it is quite a story that a couple that worked and met in a hospital, ended up buying and caring for the first hospital on the Long Beach, Washington peninsula.  For the last 10 years they have operated the Lion's Paw as a B&B. While they have enjoyed serving all the guests over the years, they are now retiring, while still keeping the home and allowing others to enjoy it as much as they do. 

Michal and Allen can be found in their cabin three miles west of the south entrance of Mount Rainier National Park. The Lion's Paw will likely never be empty, as every free weekend they will be back at the house, enjoying it for themselves.
